General Training Information-Fall 2008 Sessions

Important Notice - Two additional training sessions have just be added to the 2008 training schedule! Check the dates and locations

What Can I Expect to Learn?

Our three day training is packed with detailed, practical and field tested information for our volunteers.

Following are just some of the broader topics that will be discussed:

Foundation - Giving volunteers a solid foundation of knowledge about disaster relief work.

What Can I Expect for 2008?

In addition to the items listed above, 2008, course material will include new intake and sheltering procedures, team building exercises and our all new Volunteer Showcase. This is where our volunteers get 10-15 minutes to share their areas of expertise with the group, whether you're a professional dog trainer, part of a K-9 Search & Rescue group, wildlife rehabilitator or have another area of expertise, here's your chance to tell all about what you do best. We have 6-8 slots available at each training location, so make sure you email nwjovettech@charter.net to reserve you spot now!

In-field training - Wisconsin (2006) - Communications Exercise

One of the primary challenges of presenting disaster response training is the constant improvement of information available regarding the subject matter.  Each year, Noah's Wish updates its training curriculum with new and field tested course material. We encourage our trained volunteers to attend the revised session each year to maintain their skill level and to be in tune with new response strategies and procedures.

What to bring to training?

The intensive 3 day field training session is intended to simulate what it is like to respond to a disaster with us.  You need to be fairly self sufficient for three days and to be safe and comfortable while helping us to help others in a disaster setting.
